MALENY, QLD
Maleny Golf Club
The Breakdown
HOLE 3 – Par 4
245m
Blind Shot Tee
Danger Zone – 100m Before the Green & including Green
The Problem
The lay of the land at Maliny Golf Cluba hole 3 makes it a bind tee shot with players over the hill including those on the green easily at risk.
Most players found in safer to lay up to the left side of the fairway from which point the green is mote visible or walk up the hill to check on the progress before playing
The Solution
The Blind Shot bollard at the tee, warns of players within the danger zone from a camera station to the right of the green covering both the green and immediate fairway. This removed the need to check over the hill, and gave players at the tee more confidence to play to the green.
HOLE 4 – Par 4
324m
Blind Shot – Tee
Danger Zone – 100m – 200m Before the Green
The Problem
Leading players on hole 4 are obscured from the tee by a slight fall in the topography of the land and a bend to the left.
Additional risk on this hole comes from the separation between the tee and the previous 3rd green, making it less obvious if players are immediately ahead.
The Solution
A camera station mounted at the bend in the fairway, monitors the danger zone with the Blind Shot warning light at the tee.
The green is considered too far from the blind area to be at risk and so is not included in the danger zone detection area.
